Interpretando Respuestas / Interpreting Answers

Hay un antiguo cuento sobre un señor que era muy religioso y un día en su aldea sufren unas lluvias torrenciales que acaban por inundarla. El buen hombre en vez de ponerse activo se sentó a rezar y pedir ayuda a dios. El agua continuaba subiendo y el hombre al final no tuvo más remedio que subir al tejado de su casa. Cuando sube, se vuelve a sentar a rezar pidiendo a dios que lo ayude. Al rato pasa un vecino en una barca y le invita a subir para salvarle, pero el hombre se negó diciendo que dios le ayudaría.  Más tarde pasó un helicóptero y le tiró una escalerilla para que el hombre subiera y se salvara. Gesticulando y gritando para que le oyeran en el helicóptero, el hombre rechazó la ayuda. Estaba seguro que vendría dios a salvarle. El agua continuó subiendo hasta que acabó ahogando al hombre mientras este rezaba pidiendo ayuda. Cuando el hombre llega al cielo le pregunta a dios, ¿por qué no me has rescatado? Dios le contestó, te envié una barca y un helicóptero, pero no quisiste escucharme.

Este cuento nos hace a todos mucha gracia pero más de una vez nos hemos sentado a esperar en vez de ponernos activos. Hay que pedir ayuda y hacer preguntas, porque siempre seremos atendidos y contestados. Pero tan importante es saber esto como es el saber interpretar las señales que nos envían.  En este cuento, las señales que recibe el hombre nos parecen muy claras a todos, pero a él no le pareció así. Muchas veces las señales que recibimos pueden ser claras para los demás pero no así para nosotros. De hecho, las señales suelen ser muy sutiles y hay que estar muy en alerta, porque pueden venir de muchas formas:

-         Quizás entrando en una tienda escuchamos una conversación que viene a contestar la pregunta que hemos realizado.

-         Puede ser que pongamos la radio o estemos buscando una emisora y cuando pasamos por una justamente están comentando aquello que andamos buscando.

-         Es posible que soñemos con la respuesta.

-         A veces viene con el disfraz de la decepción porque lo que le seguirá será un nuevo comienzo que nos aportará aquello que andábamos buscando hace tiempo.

-         Incluso puede que no estemos muy atentos al televisor y de repente un anuncio o algo que mencionan en un programa nos inspire hacia un nuevo camino.

-         Puede que escuchemos una misma canción muy repetidamente y que no esté de moda, cuya letra nos está aportando una solución. O es posible que sea una canción que no podemos parar de canturrear y no nos hemos parado a observar más detenidamente la letra.

-         Otras veces la letra de una canción es una señal de que tus peticiones están siendo atendidas pero que llevan su tiempo.

-         Quizás nos apetezca apuntarnos a un curso que resulta ser lo que estábamos esperando y no éramos conscientes de ello hasta entonces.

Tanto las peticiones como las preguntas que enviamos funcionan para todo el mundo. No tiene un trasfondo religioso; es por así decirlo, una herramienta que forma parte de nosotros y que nos corresponde como seres.

Para las personas creyentes es más fácil realizar estas peticiones a dios, para los menos religiosos les es más natural pedírselo al universo, otros piden a sus guías, a seres celestiales como los ángeles o a amigos o familiares fallecidos. Esto es muy personal y a quién o a qué lanzamos nuestra petición es indiferente, porque funciona de igual forma.

Os invito a ponerlo en práctica, con total desapego ya que la carga emocional muchas veces impide que sepamos interpretar estas respuestas.

There is an old story about a very religious man who lived in a small village that suffered a flood. The man instead of getting hands on just sat down and began to pray to god for help. The water continued rising higher and he finally had to climb to the roof. There he continued to pray to god asking for help. After a while his neighbour came by in a little boat to save him. He refused his assistance saying that god would come to help him. Then a helicopter came and threw a rope ladder so the man could climb away from the roof.  The man with a gesture refused the help offered. He was sure god would come to save him. The water continued rising until the man finally drowned. When we arrived to heaven he asked god, why didn’t you rescue me? And god answered:  I sent you a boat and a helicopter, but you refused to listen to me.

We may find this a very humorous story but I’m sure that some time in our life we have decided to sit and wait for a solution instead of getting on our feet. We must ask for help and for answers, because these will always be attended. But it is not only important to know this because it is equally important to know how to interpret the signs or answers we are given. In this story the signs the man receives are very clear to all, but they were not clear to him. Many times the signs we receive may be clear to others but not to us. In fact, the signs are normally very subtle and we must be very alert because these may come in many ways:

-         We probably go in to a store and we hear a conversation which seems to be an answer to a question we made.

-         It may be that we turn on the radio and we run through the dial and we happen to pass by a station that is speaking about what we are searching for.

-         The answer might come through a dream.

-         It might come disguised under a deceit, because what comes after that will be a new start which will bring to us that which we have been searching for, for a long time.

-         We may not be paying attention to the TV and all of a sudden a commercial add or a program mentions something that inspires us towards a new path.

-         We probably hear a song repeatedly which is not in fashion and which lyric brings a solution. Or maybe we can’t get it off our head but we haven’t paid attention to what we are singing.

-         Other times song lyrics are a sign that help is on its way, but these things do take their time.

-         We might sign up to a course which will bring to us what we have been waiting for although were not aware of it until then.

The questions and the requests we send work for everyone. It has no religious background. It is something more like a tool which forms part of us and which we are entitled to as beings.

For believing people it is easier for them to make these requests to god, for those who are not that believing they feel more comfortable if they direct their request to the universe, others prefer their guides, or heavenly beings, or angels, or deceased friends or relatives. This is very personal but it doesn’t matter to who or where we send our requests, because it will work the same.

I invite you to put this into practice, with total detachment because emotional baggage often blinds our ability to interpret the answers.
